SIUE Employees Enjoy Annual Benefits and Wellness Fair
Southern Illinois University Edwardsville employees participated Thursday in an annual Benefits and Wellness Fair designed just for them.
“I love this,” said Debbie Brown-Thompson. “I learn about new exercise classes. It’s a lot of fun and the door prizes are great. I look forward to the Employee Benefits and Wellness Fair every year.”
More than 50 vendors set up in the Morris University Center to offer information about their businesses. Many of the merchants offered free samples. The fair was held in conjunction with the annual Chancellor’s Walk with SIUE Chancellor Julie Furst-Bowe.
“They have a lot of good vendors this year,” said Cindy Cobetto, coordinator in Educational Outreach. “They have a good variety of things to look at, and I like that they have pets this year. But I do miss the Staff Senate barbecue.”
The number of options is what appealed to Carl Bryan, of Building Services. “I’m just getting started. I haven’t found out a whole lot that applies to me, but the setup is nice.”
“I’m enjoying it,” said Billy Johnson, Transportation manager. “I did go to a chiropractor’s booth and made an appointment for next week.”
“Finally, they have dogs!” said Holly Schott, IT manager.
The vendors consisted of local businesses and various SIUE schools, units and departments.
Some of the merchants included: Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southwestern Illinois, Brueggeman Chiropractic Center of Glen Carbon, Sunset Hills Family Dental of Edwardsville, St. John’s Community Care of Collinsville, Metro East Humane Society, Unger Eye Care of Edwardsville, State Universities Annuitants Association (SUAA), Heart Transplant Association of St. Louis, Ride Finders, K.I.S.S. Fitness Studio of St. Louis, Crazy Bowls and Wraps of Edwardsville, Edison’s Entertainment Complex of Edwardsville, Partners for Pets of Troy, SIUE School of Nursing and SIU School of Dental Medicine.
